Born and raised in Chicago, I grew up listening to the iconic AAA station WXRT. I loved their diverse playlist, community outreach and their "connection" to both the city and the music community.
I moved to Los Angeles in 1989 and was amazed to find no station like WXRT in our country's number two radio market, Los Angeles. LA is a great radio town but I missed my 'XRT! In the meantime, I went back to college to earn my degree in Broadcast Communications - Radio, Television and Film from California State University, Los Angeles.
Fast forward to 2007 and a random chance meeting with Orange County's KSBR and within 6 months I was hosting various specialty program formats: contemporary jazz, downtempo/chill out and New Age music yet still missed the AAA format. In 2014 fellow KSBR colleague, JJ Buchanan, and I pitched our Program Director, Terry Wedel, a AAA radio show called "The Blend Radio Show". He liked it and so did many Orange County listeners and I was happily back in the AAA mix.
Once KCSN and KSBR merged in 2017 I found myself hosting Saturday afternoons at the all new independent and AAA format radio station 88.5 FM. I now feel like my love for radio has come full circle sharing music from 88.5's diverse and awesome playlist, interacting with so many knowledgeable and appreciative radio listeners while learning about so many incredible bands and music not normally heard on commercial radio. Blessed and grateful to be a part of such a great radio station and team; member supported and independent radio...we are 88.5 FM!
