Top Ten Songs of the Week (3/11/2022)

 

1. Sharon Van Etten is a singer-songwriter who started her career with the album ‘Because I Was in Love’ in 2009. Since then, the artist has released four more studio albums. The latest work by Sharon are the singles “Used To It” and “Porta”; you can listen to the latter this week on 88.5 FM! This July, Van Etten is coming to Los Angeles with fellow musicians Angel Olsen, Julien Baker, and Spencer. You can see them at the Greek Theatre on July 28th and 29th.

 

2. A Real Thing” is the latest creation from the New Zealand band The Beths. The group is comprised of musicians Liz Stokes, Jonathan Pearce, Benjamin Sinclair, and Tristan Deck. The Beths signed to Washington D.C.-based label Carpark Records. The band finished their North American tour just a couple of days ago!

 

3. Big Thief consists of singer-songwriters and guitarists Adrianne Lenker and Buck Meek, bassist Max Oleartchik, and drummer James Krivchenia. The band dropped their double album, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You, this month! The quartet is currently on tour and stopping in Los Angeles for two nights in May, the 10th and the 11th at The Wiltern. "Simulation Swarm" was debuted by the full band on tour in 2021.

 

4. Musical trio Khruangbin and singer-songwriter Leon Bridges announced their joint EP Texas Moon, scheduled for release on February 18th. “B-Side” was released as the EP’s first single and below is the music video for the song. This isn’t the first time Bridges and Khruangbin collaborated on a project. In 2020, they released Texas Sun. You can stream both albums and even order Texas Moon on vinyl, CD and cassette.

 

5. "(Don't) Hold Me Down" is on PM Warson's debut record 'True Story.' PM Warson is a London musician whose second LP is due for release in May this year. Even though he just emerged as an artist in 2021 during the pandemic, he has managed to play a number of shows in Europe so far.

 

6. "Everything's Electric" is the latest track from Liam Gallagher that will be on his upcoming album 'C'mon You Know.' Before Gallagher's solo career started, many knew Liam from his work as co-frontman of Oasis with his brother Noel. 'C'mon You Know' is expected to be released this year and is Gallagher's third solo studio album.

 

7. Midlake is releasing their fifth album, ‘For the Sake of Bethel Woods’ on March 18th! This week, you can listen to the single “Bethel Woods” on 88.5 FM. Midlake is a Texan band that consists of members Eric Pulido, McKenzie Smith, Scott Lee, Eric Nichelson, Jesse Chandler, and Joey McClellan. Midlake will be coming to Sonoma in June for the music festival Huichica. You can also hear Midlake performing at The Independent 88.5 FM SXSW Radio Day Stage during our live broadcast on March 17th, starting at 10 am! 

 

8. This next act is our current Artist in Residence for the month of March! Tune in on Saturdays from 6 pm - 7 pm to hear Lucius host their own show on the air! "Next To Normal" is the leading single from the group's upcoming fourth studio album, 'Second Nature.' The album will drop on April 8th!

 

9. This year, Gang Of Youths released their newest album, 'Angel in Realtime'! "In The Wake Of Your Leave" is the second track on the thirteen-track album. Gang Of Youths is an Australian band that consists of musicians David Le'aupepe, Max Dunn, Jung Kim, Donnie Borzestowski, and Tom Hobden. The group was launched into the music industry with their 2017 single "Let Me Down Easy." You can see Gang Of Youths perform live on stage in Los Angeles on May 18th at the Belasco Theater.

 

10. World-renowned artist Adele released the song "Oh My God" as a single from her fourth studio album 30 last year. The song peaked at number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 in October. "Oh My God" was given a beautiful music video this January. Late last year, Adele put on a secret intimate performance called "Adele One Night Only" that you can now watch on Paramount+.
