Dead, alive and well (virtually) and touring the information superhighway...It’s the Grateful Dead and Dead & Company streaming weekly on YouTube!
On Fridays at 5PM Pacific Time, it’s the “Shakedown Stream,” a live Q&A with archivist David Lemieux and historian Gary Lambert followed by the screening of a classic live Grateful Dead show. Every week they have a special guest and they choose a different worthy organization to raise funds for. Past charities have included the MusiCares Covid-19 Relief Fund and the ACLU Solidarity Fund.
While we can’t say that supporting 88.5 FM will make you a better drummer, singer or performer, it keeps the great music going. Yes, Ringo Starr is a proud supporter and friend of 88.5 FM and he has issued a challenge to YOU.
On Friday, June 12, starting at 6AM with the “Nic Harcourt Morning Show with Jet”, if 500 pledges are made before 7PM, Ringo Starr will be matching your donation to the Independent 88.5 FM!
If that is not awesome enough, You can even pick up the new Limited Edition “Peace, Love and Togetherness” Tote with a pledge of $100 or $8.85 monthly.
Go Back to the 80’s on June 13 with “Back to the Basement“- a virtual concert to support and honor first responders and health-care workers who are on the front lines of the fight against COVID-19.
“Back to the Basement” is intended to bring us back to the days where kids watched
music video after music video on MTV in their basements. If you’re a SoCal native like me and you’ve never seen a house with a basement... well, it sounds cool, so we’ll just go with it.
KT Tunstall has released a new song “Wash Ya Hands,” to lightheartedly remind us of
the importance of protecting ourselves through good hygiene during the COVID-19
What started out as family time has now become a digital EP! Last week, John Fogerty marked his 75th Birthday, May 28th, by releasing a new EP, Via BMG, “Fogerty’s
Factory”, available on all digital platforms.
It occurred to me that the Eagles may not have been the way you were first introduced to Joe. Maybe you “met” him in 1969 with the James Gang. Maybe you got hooked in 1973 with “Rocky Mountain Way”, from the Barnstorm album,“The Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get”. Maybe you heard his iconic, “Life’s Been Good” on the “FM” movie soundtrack in 1978 (which also had the Eagles’ “Life in the Fast Lane”) which sent you speeding up the 5, in your Maserati at 185, to his album “But Seriously, Folks...”
However you know Joe, catch up with him this Saturday, hosting a 2-Hr show from 6-8 PM, right here at 885FM.org, on the airwaves at 88.5 FM and your favorite streaming apps!
And if you missed last week’s show:
