Hear At Home with Moorea Masa

In this Hear at Home interview, join 88.5 FM's afternoon host, Andy Chanley, for his conversation with Portland-raised, Southern California-based singer-songwriter Moorea Masa.

Masa dives into a few of her favorite things about Portland and the differences she senses between Los Angeles and Portland creatively. She explains how the relationship with her mother has affected her songwriting for her latest album 'Heart In The Wild: Side A.'

"A big majority of this record is about my mom…and losing my mom on so many different levels; losing her, mentally and in my life where it's no longer safe for me to be in communication with her, for physical and emotional safety" Masa details her mother's connection in the record, "this is my letter to her in a lot of ways. Creating this record was a lot of my own processing."

Moorea Masa will be performing at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza on Sunday, May 15, 2022.

"Moorea Masa brings an organic Northwest vibe to the more traditional R&B sounds.  Profoundly moving, she blends sumptuous soul together with stripped-back folk harmonies.  She has toured the world and shared a stage with artists k.d. Lang, Allen Stone, Big Wild, Rachael Price, Nick Waterhouse, headlined tours in Europe and supported other artists including Corrine Bailey Rae, Emily Kind and more."
