THIS HAPPENED


In 1968, The Jeff Beck Group played in America for the first time, at the Fillmore East in New York City. Rod Stewart, then the lead singer, was so nervous that he hid behind a large speaker for part of the performance.

In 1969, The only album by supergroup Blind Faith was released.

In 1969, Judy Garland died of a barbiturate overdose at the age of 47 in her rented Chelsea home, in London, England. Her version of “Over The Rainbow” was voted the Song Of The Century in a 2001 poll.

In 1971, Joni Mitchell’s album Blue was released.

In 1981, Six months after the brutal murder of John Lennon, Mark David Chapman pled guilty to the crime. He remains locked up 39 years later.
