Two time Grammy winning guitarist and composer John McLaughlin, multi-Grammy winner and tabla master Zakir Hussain, and celebrated Indian vocalist and composer Shankar Mahadevan have teamed up to bring you a brand new video of “Sakhi.” It was recorded during this pandemic from the artists’ respective homes.
The song is taken from their full length album “Is That So?” This six year collaboration was released in January. Thanks to the artists’ generosity, the album is available at no charge, but fans are encouraged to make a donation to the Grammy Foundation’s “MusiCards” which is providing assistance to members of the music industry in this time of need.
John McLaughlin sums up the album, ”I have been working with tabla maestro Zakir Hussain for almost 50 years, and with Shankar Mahadevan for 20 years. I can say categorically, that their influence on me as a musician ad a human being is without equal, and our recording, “Is That So?” is one of the great milestones in my musical life.”
