Music Director Picks #11: Alice Wallace, The Cranberries, Durand Jones & The Indications

885 music director picks FB20

88.5 FM receives so much music on a daily basis... CDs, downloads, reissues, box sets, cassette tapes, vinyl records and more. Songs are generally chosen by committee at the station, but it's the job of the music director to go through the stacks and stacks with a fine tooth comb. This blog may include major label releases, independent artists, even random submissions for your listening pleasure.

Music Director Picks #11

ALICE WALLACE - SANTA ANA WINDS

Alice Wallace has had some success as an independent musician and songwriter in the past. Her new album is called Into The Blue... and could propel her into the national conversation within the Country and Americana music communities. Based out of Southern California, she was named 2017 Female Vocalist of the Year at the California Country Awards and 2016 Best Country/Americana Artist at the L.A. Music Critic Awards. Alice could have a breakout year in 2019. This song hits home for many of us affected by the recent wildfires.

THE CRANBERRIES - ALL OVER NOW

Dolores O'Riordan had an appointment scheduled. Two days after her passing, she was supposed to meet with her record label to talk about some new songs she had been working on with the band. It's unfortunate that O'Riordan is no longer with us, but with the blessing of her family along with the ambitiousness of the remaining band members, there will be a new Cranberries record coming out in April. The album will be called In The End

DURAND JONES & THE INDICATIONS - DON'T YOU KNOW

Here's another one for our running list of fantastic neo-soul acts. Recorded for $452.11, including a case of beer, the Indications’ 2016 self-titled debut was the product of five friends who met as students at Indiana University in Bloomington. This track "Don't You Know" is the latest release and a glimpse into American Love Call, their new album coming out in March.
